The USKSF will certify Instructors who meet the criteria below. Those receiving USKSF Instructor Certification will be listed on the USKSF website.
Additional Information
  • Martial arts morality will be determined according to the following precepts: Discipline, Integrity, Dedication, Sincerity, and Respect towards one’s Shih-Fu, the Chinese martial arts, and the martial arts community.
  • Applications will be accepted year round. The U.S.K.S.F. Board of Examiners and Instructors Committee, however, will review them only twice a year in May and November.
  • Applicants from outside the United States must have their application signed by an Instructor pre-approved by the USKSF that can verify the applicant’s information. Contact the USKSF via email at info@usksf.org with questions.
  • Any discrepancies will be reviewed and decided upon by the Instructors Committee and Board of Examiners. Final decisions will be determined by the U.S.K.S.F. President.
  • ALL APPLICATIONS MUST INCLUDE AN EMAIL ADDRESS IN CASE WE NEED TO CONTACT YOU.
  • USKSF membership status will be verified prior to processing all applications.
  • Certification fee is $100 for USKSF Members. All fees are non-refundable.
  • Certification fee is $125 for non-members. All fees are non-refundable.
  • Certification form will be signed by the U.S.K.S.F. President and the Chief of the Instructors Committee.

Instructor Certification




Instructor B Requirements:

  • Applicant must exhibit martial arts morality.
  • Applicant must have studied Chinese martial arts for a minimum of seven years, including at least three years spent either teaching or assisting teaching.
  • Applicant must pass an examination which will test knowledge of his/her chosen style as well as standard forms (northern and southern) and weapons (broadsword, straightsword, spear and long staff).
 

Instructor A Requirements:

  • Applicant must exhibit martial arts morality.
  • Applicant must have at least twenty years of experience in the Chinese martial arts, including at least ten years spent teaching.
  • Applicant must have contributed to the Chinese martial arts (for instance, by publishing a book or producing instructional videotapes, etc.) or must be recommended by the Instructors Committee or at least two respected Shi-Fus.
 

Senior Instructor Requirements:

  • Applicant must exhibit martial arts morality.
  • Applicant must be a USKSF member.
  • Applicant must have at least thirty years of experience in the Chinese martial arts, including at least ten years spent teaching.
  • Applicant must have trained (at least) one of the following:
    • A world champion and a continental champion
    • Three continental champions
    • Six national champions (tournaments must be sanctioned by T.W.K.S.F. or the U.S.K.S.F.)
 

Ranking
Application for recognition of martial arts accomplishment from The World Kuo Shu Federation may be submitted via the U.S.K.S.F. by submitting a completed application, and the application fee. The ranking achieved will be determined by the Ranking Committee based on the following criteria.
